ProSEco at the Open Innovation 2.0 conference in Cluj-Napoca
The conference Open Innovation 2.0: The Platform for Digital Innovation has taken place at the heart of Transylvania – Cluj-Napoca 13th and 14th June 2017. This was the fifth edition of this high-level conference key for the competitiveness of Europe. The aim in this edition has been to put the spotlight on the success stories and on the promotion of collaborative projects between the actors of the local and regional innovation ecosystem. ProSEco was present in the stand of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (one of the research partners in ProSEco project).
The Conference was organized by DG CONNECT, the Open Innovation Strategy and Policy Group and the Committee of Regions, in partnership with Cluj-Napoca Municipality, ARIES Transylvania and other relevant actors of the regional innovation ecosystem. It was opened by Emil Boc, Mayor of Cluj-Napoca with the presence of representatives from EC (DG Grow, DG RTD, etc.) and the academic world.
Prof. Chesbrough’s more recent (and preferred) Open Innovation definition (2006) is:
“Open innovation is the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge to accelerate internal innovation, and expand the markets for external use of innovation, respectively. It is assumed that firms can and should use external ideas as well as internal ideas, and internal and external paths to market, as they look to advance their technology.”
European projects like ProSEco are one of the dynamics and realities that give body to this concept. ProSEco fosters open innovation and is more than knowledge transfer or results transfer, it is about knowledge co-creation among Research partners, Industrial partners and software provider partners. The project results’ sets the consortium on the way to innovation and will expand their markets and their influence.
